Needle Join

To start Make a magic ring or Ch4 and slip stitch (sl st) in first ch to form a ring. ROUND 1 Ch3 (counts as your first dc), 11dc into magic ring. Join with sl st (slip stitch) to top of beginning Ch3. ROUND 2 Ch3 and dc in same stitch, Ch1. *2dc in next stitch, Ch1* Repeat from *to* 10 more times. Join with sl st to top of beginning Ch3. Slip stitch into the next Ch1 space (as indicated by the black arrow on the diagram). ROUND 3 In the same Ch1 space: Ch3 (counts as your first dc), dc, Ch3, 2dc. In the next Ch1 space: 2dc. *In the next Ch1 space: 2dc, Ch3, 2dc. 2dc in next Ch1 space* Repeat from *to* 4 more times. Join with sl st to top of beginning Ch3. ROUND 4 Ch3, dc in next stitch. *In Ch3 space: 2dc, Ch2, 2dc. Dc in each of the next 6 stitches (be careful not to miss the hidden stitch)* Repeat from *to* 4 more times. In last Ch3 space: 2dc, Ch2, 2dc. Dc in each of the next 4 stitches. Finish off hexagon with a Needle Join, cut yarn and sew in tails.

These hexies are joined using the Join-as-you-go method: Make the next hexagon and in the last round (round 4), when you get to a corner do the following: 2dc in corner space, Ch2 like normal. Remove the hook from the hexie you’re working on. Insert your hook in the corner space of the hexie you’re joining to (from front to back). Pick up the loop you’ve just removed your hook from and pull it through the corner space. Then continue your hexie with 2dc in the Ch3 corner space.
