Halton Hills Lifeguard Club takes third at Provincials HALTON HILLS, ON – The Halton Hills Lifeguard Club (HHLC) competed in their fifth Ontario Junior Lifeguard Games – Pool and finished an impressive third overall. The team sent 22 athletes to Owen Sound on June 18 and 19 where they competed against more than 200 other athletes from across Ontario. Of the 98 individual events HHLC had 62 personal best times by athletes, resulting in a third place finish overall. The Junior Lifeguard games allow young athletes to compete in a variety of exciting aquatic events that combine swimming and water rescue skills. “HHLC is a unique competitive opportunity for youth living in Halton Hills and is a great way to train towards becoming a lifeguard or swim instructor. I congratulate the swimmers and families who travelled and competed in Owen Sound and thank them for representing The Town of Halton Hills at the provincial level,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The Halton Hills Lifeguard Club, which trains at the Georgetown Indoor Pool, offers young swimmers the opportunity to learn lifesaving skills and improve fitness in a fun, supportive team environment. “I have been part of the HHLC team for six years and it has helped me develop and strengthen my lifeguard skills through fun races and events. HHLC is a great team to be a part of,” says long-time club member Jordan Stott. The Town of Halton Hills Recreation and Parks Department offers the HHLC program for youth seven years and older who have completed Swimmer 3.
