Doors Open Halton Hills showcases local buildings HALTON HILLS, ON – Lucy Maud Montgomery’s Norval is the theme of this year’s Doors Open Halton Hills, which will be held on September 29. Thirteen unique and distinctive Norval buildings will be featured that are reminiscent of the Norval that Lucy Maud Montgomery, the famous author of Anne of Green Gables, would recognize during the time (1926 to 1935) in which she lived in the local hamlet. “Halton Hills is home to many buildings that feature some wonderful architectural features. This year we are focusing on the beautiful hamlet of Norval and some of the unique buildings in the surrounding area. This event provides the public with an opportunity to see first-hand some great buildings that have tremendous heritage value,” said Councillor Moya Johnson, who also chairs the Halton Hills Doors Open Committee. Crammond House, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Barraclough House, Lucy Maud Montgomery Museum at Crawford’s are just a few of the buildings participating in the event. A full list can be found below. Entry to Doors Open sites is free, thanks to the generosity of the event’s sponsors, specifically: gold sponsors – Johnson and Associates Real Estate and the Town of Halton Hills; silver – Downtown Georgetown, Reeve & Clarke Books, Georgetown Marketplace; site sponsors – Carter Farm Market, Arnie’s Collision, Norval Community Association, Nusha Mathieson of Johnson Associates Realtor, and Peter Zavitz of Johnson Associates Realtor.
