Community Improvement Plan (CIP) Aids Local Business Owner in Major Renovations Halton Hills, ON – The Town of Halton Hills through the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) has provided financial support to Tag Management to undertake a major exterior renovation at 210 Guelph Street. This busy commercial plaza houses a number of small local businesses including the Pickled Piper Restaurant, Booster Juice, SunnyView Dental and Namaste Restaurant. “The additional help from the Town encouraged us to do a more extensive renovation that we initially planned. The work includes stucco repair, new efficient lighting for the signs, new windows, painting and repaving the parking lot” stated Trevor Maddern Property Manager for building. Since purchasing the property over a decade ago the current owner has invested over $300,000.00 in improvements and this last renovation cost in excess to $60,000.00. The Town provided $10,000.00 towards costs of the renovation. The CIP will provide a grant of up to 50% to a maximum of $12,500.00 for approved façade improvements. The program is available for property owners in the Acton and Georgetown Downtown areas and the Guelph Street corridor in Georgetown. The purpose of the grants is to encourage investment in the local business sector which adds to the vibrancy of the community. The investment in properties will result in an increase in the value of the property and in the long term the Town benefits from their investment through higher property taxes. “The CIP is one of a number of business friendly programs that Halton Hills offers to local businesses, we understand that consumers need a strong and competitive business sector that provides local choices” stated Mayor Rick Bonnette. The CIP has an annual budget of $75,000.00 per year and applications are accepted year round as long as funds remain for the program.
