FOLLOWING THE MESSAGE 1) 1:17 According to the Bible, a true believer, made righteous, will continue in faith. It is not a one-time act; it is a way of life. 2) 1:17 Faith in Jesus as Savior includes our decision, but it proceeds from God (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 4:2-3).
10) 1:18 God perfectly loves righteousness and perfectly hates evil simultaneously (Psalm 45:7; Hebrews 1:9). GREEK WORDS Hypostasis (hoop-os'-tas-is)—something deeply established; a setting under (support), concrete essence :- substance Orgē—wrath; a settled, determined indignation; not a momentary, emotional, uncontrolled anger to which humans are prone
3) 1:17 Three Stages to Saving Faith: Felt need Stage—essential, but not complete A person has no reason to believe until the need is recognized. Felt need does not require theological depth, only a sincere heart. Content/Substance Stage—essential, but not complete A person does not have to fully grasp doctrine of salvation before being saved, but does need the gospel truth. Commitment Stage—climax of faith Without commitment, there is no saving faith. Many express confidence in Jesus but never trust themselves to Him. 4) 1:17 God does not require faith without giving reason for it. Hebrews 11:1 5) True biblical faith is confident submission to God’s Word in spite of circumstances, not in spite of evidence. 6) God speaks… We hear His Word. We trust His Word. We act on His Word.

7) The “faithful” (Old Testament and New Testament believers) anticipate the promises of God. Even though we do not have specifics, we put our faith in His Word.

8) Only the God who made man can ever satisfy man. Only the God who made reason can make life reasonable. 9) 1:18 Paul was determined we understand the reality of being under God’s wrath before he expanded on the way of escape.
