1. Introduction The Soil Moisture Sensor module is used to measure the volumetric water content of soil. This sensor comes with 2 output pins which are digital or analog signal. User can choose whether to use the digital or analog output. It uses 2 probes to detect the moisture of the soil. When the surface of the probe plates touch the moisture soils, the current will be conducted between the 2 probes and LOW signal will be generated at its digital output. This sensor consists of a potentiometer knob that can be adjusted to change the sensitivity of the sensor.
Specification: Input Voltage : DC 3.3V to 5V Output : o Digital (0 or 1 digit) o Analog (0 to 5V) Output Signal : Active low Sensitivity : Adjustable (potentiometer adjustment)

2. Output Signal: LOW The sensor detects the moisture surface. LED’s Status: ON
The output voltage changing when the moisture is detected. Output voltage decreases from 5V Moisture is being detected.
4. Sample Hardware Installation and Sample Source Code Diagram below shows the hardware connection between Soil Moisture Sensor Module and Arduino UNO. Besides Arduino, it may interface with any microcontroller such as PIC and etc.

To obtain the result, please get the sample source code and burn it into Arduino. After that, open the “Serial Monitor” to see the result.

5. Result The example is done by using a wet tissue. Before detecting any moisture, the reading from A0 (Arduino Uno analog pin) is 1023 which is 5V.

After the sensor detected the wet surface, the reading from A0 (Arduino Uno analog pin) decreases.

6. Warranty
Product warranty is valid for 1 month. Warranty only applies to manufacturing defect. Damaged caused by misuse is not covered under warranty. Warranty does not cover shipping cost for both ways.
