1. Introduction This Water Flow Sensor module is used for sensing the rate of fluid flow. It is consists of a plastic valve body, a water rotor, and a hall-effect sensor. Its speed changes with different rate of flow. The hall-effect sensor is connected with the water rotor. When the fluid flows through the module, the rotor will be rotated and the hall-effect sensor will outputs the corresponding pulse signal. This module can be used to measure and control rate or quantity of water flow through it and it is suitable for a control system based application such gardening to measure the amount of water used to water the plants and to prevent wastage. Besides sensing the fluid flow, it is also widely used for water heaters, credit card machines, water vending machine, flow measurement device and etc.

4. Sample Hardware Installation and Sample Source Code Diagram below shows the hardware connection between Water flow Sensor Module and Arduino UNO. Besides Arduino, it may interface with any microcontroller such as PIC and etc.

To obtain the result, please get the sample source code and burn it into Arduino. After that, open the “Serial Monitor” to see the result.

5. Result The example is done by blowing the air onto the rotor (act as water flow) of the water flow sensor module. There will be three parameters measured, which are the flow rate (L/min), the current liquid flowing (mL/sec) and the total current output liquid quantity (mL).
Before there is no air flowing, the reading shows on the Serial Monitor were all zero.

When the air flow is detected, the serial monitor shows the current reading detected by the module.

6. Warranty
Product warranty is valid for 1 month. Warranty only applies to manufacturing defect. Damaged caused by misuse is not covered under warranty. Warranty does not cover shipping cost for both ways.
