SPCM Week Speech Choir Competition MECHANICS 1. The Speech Choir Competition is divided into two rounds: the elimination round, and the final round. 2. Each SPCM 1 recitation class (A.Y. 2012-2013, 1st semester) is required to participate in the elimination round. All students of each SPCM 1 recitation class are required to perform for their class to be able to get a grade for the 5-percent speech choir requirement in SPCM 1. 3. Only UPLB SPCM 1 students for the school year 2012-2013, 1st semester, are allowed to participate in the competition; however, each recitation class may ask help from anyone to coach them. 4. From the 42 SPCM 1 recitation classes that will be competing in the elimination round, eight recitation classes will be chosen by the judges to proceed to the final round. 5. The eight finalists will be competing for the first, second, and third places in the final round. 6. The eight recitation classes that will make it to the final round will be given a 50-point incentive in the total QEA points in their respective recitation classes. 7. Allotted time for each presentation, both in the elimination and final rounds, is five to seven minutes including all preparation, entrance and exit of participants. A deduction of one point will be given for each minute a team exceeds the time limit. No minimum time for each presentation is required. 8. There shall be one contest piece (Typhoons by Rio Alma) for the elimination and final rounds. Editing the text and repetition of words or lines are allowed. A maximum of five words may be altered, added or replaced. 9. Costumes and props and recorded music or sound effects are allowed. 10. Order of presentations both in the elimination and final rounds will be determined by lots at least a week before the competition. 11. In case of a tie, both in the elimination and final rounds, judges will deliberate to break it. The decision of the board of judges is final.
