From the Desk of: Fr. Rock
I want to thank all the parishioners who were able to attend the Town Meeting last Tuesday evening. I believe that there was a lot of great information given but even more was the hope that the Collaborative will work and make our parishes stronger. There certainly is a lot of work to be done especially getting to know and trust each other but I think that in his homily, Deacon Bill Reidy hit the nail on the head, when he said, “put Christ at the center…” If we do that, we will succeed. One comment that I have heard a number of times, “There will be no changes until the Collaborative begins next year!” As I mentioned in a homily a few weeks ago I had hoped that I had another year to get ready but when Fr. Darin was asked to go to Methuen, everything changed, for all of us. I was asked to take on the role of Administrator which doubled my work and responsibilities. These two “changes” have begun a cascade of change that will continue until the Collaborative is firmly in place. The next big change will be the daily Mass schedule. Thanks to the presence of Fr. Michael we have been able to maintain Masses at both parishes but when he leaves, on Labor Day, we will have to go to one daily Mass in Reading. There will be conversations with the daily Mass attendees at both parishes to come up with a schedule. Each day I thank God that both parish staffs have risen to the challenge and have been understanding when I look at them like a deer in the headlights! Let’s keep praying for one another, Fr. Steve Rock Reading Catholic 781-944-0490 www.stagnesReading.org www.stathanasiusReading.org
From the Rel Ed Director Attention Parents !!!! Kindergartners and Grade 1 Students We are offering a combined Religious ed. class for grades 1 and K. This class will take place on Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00. It will be taught by Chrissy Cerratani who has taught grade 1 in the past. It is great for the younger grade 1 students and maybe the older grade K students. It will include plenty of crafts and fun projects. If you would like to meet Chrissy to discuss, she is usually at the 9:00 coffee hour after the 9:00 Mass. She will be doing a craft or a project with the kids on a few Sundays. Please feel free to stop in and say Hello to her. For any questions contact Jo-Ann Rossi at

Transition Information Under the Collaborative, there are only 2 priests assigned to Reading as opposed to the 3 we have had for the last 20 years or so. We are in a time of change: for most of us change is part of our daily lives but what the Reading Catholic community will be going through is TRANSITION, which is not easy.
