Ten Thousand Villages Lincoln Store Manager Description:
The Ten Thousand Villages Lincoln’s Store Manager is responsible for running the retail aspect of the
nonprofit organization, cultivating staff and volunteer morale, and building meaningful relationships in the community, while working closely with the Board of Directors.

Experience in retail sales with demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit organizations and/or an education in Business Administration or Nonprofit Administration. Management experience.
Artistic eye and ability to use visual merchandising best practices to create attractive in store displays.
Experience in interacting with the public and providing excellent customer service in a retail sales environment.
Ability to train, supervise and schedule paid staff and volunteers.
Experience in point of sale systems, inventory maintenance, and word processing. Experience in advertising, social media and marketing preferred.
Experience in community outreach, event planning, and fundraising preferred.
Assignment Description:
Oversee store operations along with offsite sales and pop up stores (as needed). Oversee all operations to meet budgeted sales goals and manage expenses within budget. All store activities will be conducted by the manager, or will be delegated to an appropriate staff member or volunteer. The manager serves as the supervisor of all staff and volunteers in the store.
General Management: ● ● ● ● ● ● ●
Prepare manager’s report for the Board of Directors and attend monthly board meetings. Meet regularly with Board and Volunteer governed committees to discuss issues, needs, and successes. Learn and effectively distribute information about products and artisans to paid staff and volunteers. Exemplify the highest level of customer service standards Meet and exceed sales goals and targets. Train, develop, and motivate all staff to provide excellent customer service according to Sales and Service Standards. Manage store operating procedures, including but not limited to inventory levels, cash control, daily and monthly paperwork and reporting.
Maintain store floor according to Ten Thousand Villages Visual Merchandising Standards. ● Execute floor moves at appropriate times or as needed. ● Maintain complete store appearance including displays and back office through regular cleaning, straightening and dusting. ● Attend national and regional meetings. Personnel Management ● Promote and maintain a sales culture that is positive for all staff and volunteers. ● Hire, train and supervise paid staff. ● Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with recruitment and training of volunteer staff. ● Work with Assistant Manager/Outreach Coordinator and collaborate in the planning and execution of offsite sales and community outreach initiatives. ● Conduct annual staff evaluations and make recommendations on wage increases to the board of directors. Inventory Management ● Select and order merchandise for the store, maintaining appropriate inventory levels. ● Select and order from reputable fair trade outside vendors. ● Monitor sales and order inventory according to sales and annual budget. ● Maintain required inventory levels of Ten Thousand Villages merchandise as stated in the Brand Licensing and Distribution Agreement. ● Conduct annual physical inventory. Marketing and Public Relations ● Design and execute annual marketing plan. ● Work with the Events and Outreach Committee to organize special/on-going events and promotions. ● Work with the Outreach Coordinator/Assistant Manager to actively seek opportunities to promote the store and its mission through speaking engagements, educational programs, and off-site displays and/or sales. ● Represent the store to various constituencies – the media, business associations, religious organizations, community groups, churches, schools, libraries, and the general public. ● Manage all social media platforms including facebook, instagram and twitter. ● Recruit, hire, train and develop social media interns each semester. ●
Qualifications: ● Two years experience in retail management preferred with an emphasis on customer ● ● ●
service driven sales.
Self-motivated, outgoing, energetic, and thrives in working in a team environment.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to be mobile on sales floor for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs, utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques. Eligibility to be employed in the United States of America. Working Hours:
Exempt, full time position (approximately 40 hours per week). Must be flexible in scheduling and willing to work opening and closing shifts, some weekends, work annual physical inventories,
and the entire holiday season (November through December). Vacation is not permitted during the holiday season without express permission from the Board. Salary and Benefits:
$32,000-$38,000 yearly salary depending on experience. Paid time off, paid holidays (New
Year’s Day; Memorial Day; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; and Christmas) and staff discount on in-store purchases.
