Windsor High School Alumni returns as Artist in Residence Windsor High School Art Department proudly welcomes alumni Allison Flores as Artist in Residence for the spring semester. Allison graduated from WHS in 2013 after having been awarded a Gold Medal for her art portfolio in the CT Regional Scholastics Competition which earned her a scholarship to Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford. While at University of Hartford, Allison’s exceptional talent was recognized by being included in the prestigious Goldfarb Juried Exhibition and earning a coveted position as a Teaching Assistant in the Ceramics Department. Allison graduated with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics, with a minor in Photography, in May 2017. She is volunteering her time each week at WHS in the Ceramics Lab to work with advanced art students, from demonstrating the contemporary practices of a professional artist to technical lessons on the wheel to working with students to understand the nuances of loading and firing kilns. Allison brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm that students are excited to respond to. Allison’s work is currently included in the exhibit: Teacher/Artist/Mentor at the CCSU Art Gallery along with her mentor WHS Art Teacher Marjorie Renno. This show runs in conjunction with the CT Art Educators Association Youth Art Celebration where 15 Windsor High School students have work on view representing their art program.
