+Slatwall DETAIL OF ONE BAY The intention of this page is to clarify the construction of the auditorium roof by focusing on one structural bay. The most important feature at this scale is that the lower cable net (20mm diameter galvanised steel cables at 3 metre centres) passes through the composite board cladding so as to hide its connection with the Vierendeel Truss. The steel membrane housing is similarly hidden out of view. All of which contributes to the illusion of an unsupported roof. SHADOW GAP

It was important that at a glance the composite board, auditorium walls might appear as a traditional structural courtyard. However, to give clues about their real nature a shadow gap has been created as they meet the floor.

SLATWALL It is proposed that the lower half of the auditorium will use simple Slatwall technology (used for shop shelving) so that temporary scenery can be hung. For ease the upper parts of the wall will be projected upon rather than using the same system. 21.
