Information Brochure: 2017-2018 SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SUIIT) SUIIT was established in the year 2010 as an Autonomous Constituent Unit of the Sambalpur University in the line of IIITs to impart training and to have quality research programme relating to Information Technology and allied subjects. SUIIT provides training at the level of Undergraduates and Post-Graduates courses in technical subjects holistically and the curriculum includes training in Humanities, Management Sciences and Basic Sciences in addition to the relevant core Technical subjects. Sambalpur University is one of the oldest Universities of the State of Odisha and is catering to the higher educational need of over 10 districts and a part of Angul district of the state since 1966. With time, the University has established itself as a leading educational institute with global footprints and has been the centre of attraction for students and scholars from other states as well. Sambalpur University has been at the forefront of nurturing technical educations in the state of Odisha through R.E.C. Rourkela (presently NIT, RKL) and U.C.E, Burla (presently VSSUT, Burla) with many distinguished alumni both in India and abroad. SUIIT is a unique venture for nurturing the young minds in the contemporary globalised environment by making use of the decades of rich academic experience and achievements of the University in diverse fields and providing a modern platform for innovation, research and technical training of international standard. INFRASTRUCTURE:
SUIIT has exclusive campus adjacent to the main campus of the Sambalpur University at Jyoti Vihar, Burla, in a picturesque and green environment interspersed with scenic hills. The Institute has a modern academic building furnished with audio visual classrooms, well equipped laboratories, faculty rooms and Library with increasing stocks of books. The academic building is fully Wi-Fi enabled with dedicated internet connections. SUIIT has separate hostel facilities for both gents and ladies. The buildings and its sprawling surroundings with rich flora and fauna provides healthy and stimulating ambience required for rigorous academic efforts. Computing Labs such as Networking Lab with CISCO equipment, Database Lab with Oracle and Programming Lab in collaboration with Sun Java, Basic Electrical Engineering Lab, Electrical Machine Lab. and Electronics Lab. are few special infrastructures that are already developed for students of the Institute. The SUIIT students and faculty are having the unique opportunity to work in the environment of a University and a professional Institute together. In addition to its own logistics and resources, the Institute also avails the facilities of Sambalpur University such as, Wi-Fi campuswide networking, well-stocked Central Library, online digital library facilities and uses academic resources of well-established PG Departments of Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, English, Management Studies, Social Sciences and Environmental Science.

The institute has adequate faculty who are competent in their respective fields of specialization. The institute also ropes in experienced faculty of the Sambalpur University and has visitors from National Institutes like IITs/ISI/NITs/Central Universities/Software Companies to expose students to accomplished scholars. Students are involved in multi-institutional projects and internships funded by Govt. agencies with remunerations. CULTURAL, SPORTS AND EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:
The campus is active in cultural, sports and extra-curricular activities. The Cultural Festival named AAVAHAN is being organized by the students every year in SUIIT to promote leadership quality and the techno festival „INNOVOVATE‟ organised by Innovation Club has caught the imagination of youths of Odisha to showcase their talents in diverse fields. SUIIT has also Sports Club and Literary Club. TRAINING AND PLACEMENT:
Students are being exposed to advance mode of training through summer internship programmes at different reputed organizations like Central University Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Bhubaneswar, NITs, Institute of Mathematics & Application, CTTC, DRDO, CDAC and HAL Ordnance factory etc, to make the students industry worthy. Industry standard pre-placement trainings are imparted to students by hiring services of reputed firms. Information Brochure: 2017-2018 PROCEDURE TO APPLY FOR ADMISSION A. For admission into B. Tech Programmes: B. Tech admission in SUIIT from this academic session will be done through OJEE Counseling. B. For admission into M. SC./MCA/ M. PHIL/M. TECH Programmes: The candidate may apply through (1).Offline application mode or (2). Online application mode. The detailed procedure is given bellow: 1. OFFLINE APPLICATION The Admission Application Form can be obtained by downloading from our website www.suiit.ac.in. Separate application form can be submitted to the following mailing address by Speed Post / Registered Post / Courier Service for all PG programmes. Payment of Rs. 500.00 (for each form) in shape of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Director, SUIIT, Sambalpur University” payable at SBI, Jyoti Vihar branch (code no – 6672) be made at the time of submission of completed application form. Incomplete application form will not be considered. Admission Application Form and the Information Brochure are available on our website www.suiit.ac.in 2. ONLINE APPLICATION FOR PG STUDENTS ONLY Procedure for filling up of online application form: Open www.suiit.ac.in. Click on the Admissions tab to go to the Admissions section in the site and then click on the Instructions and go through them. After going through the Instructions, click on the online form button to access the form. Instructions
Registration
Enter your mobile/phone number (which will be used to verify in case you forget your password.) You have the option of simultaneously applying to maximum of three courses at once with separate bank draft of Rs 500/ for each course for the same candidate. You are also required to enter your date of birth. On completion of the registration you are redirected to the home page. An informatory email will be sent to you containing your username and password.
Login
For registration you are required to have a valid email ID (e.g.
[email protected] or
[email protected] etc), this will be used as your username and for any future communication from SUIIT. Choose a password consisting of letters and numbers between 8 to 15 characters for the online form.
You need to login using the username, password and date of birth chosen by you in the previous step. Login within 24 hrs of registration for your registration to be preserved in the system.

There are 5 sections of the form: (1) Personal Information (2) Academic History (3) Course Options & Payment (4) Photo Upload and (5) Final Submission. Each section has to be filled up to proceed to the next. You can come back to edit any information to any of the previous tabs. No change is permitted after final submission. So ensure that you have entered/verified all
informations before submission.

The entered contact address and phone number will be used for further communication from SUIIT. Academic History Before filing up this section, refer to the minimum eligibility criteria of your desired programme carefully. Enter the appropriate name of the board/University (CHSE, CBSE, ICSE, Sambalpur University, Utkal University, Fakir Mohan University, G. M. University, Revenshaw University etc.). Enter the Maximum Marks/Maximum CGPA and the Marks/CGPA obtained. Enter the Division/Class/Distinction obtained. In case you are currently employed please enter your employment information. Course Option Based on the courses applied for the application choices are generated. Payment Enter the accurate Bank details - Draft No., Name of the Issuing Bank, date of issue of draft to ensure that it is within the prescribed time limit else your application will be rejected. Or, through the „State Bank Collect facility‟ available in SUIIT website www.suiit.ac.in During online payment using State Bank Collect facility, fees can be deposited using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking facility of any Bank besides visiting any SBI branch to deposit by cash or cheque drawn on any SBI Branch. Please read the instructions carefully before remitting After successful payment the candidates shall deposit a copy of the e-receipt with the hardcopy of the application form. Photo Upload Upload a recent color digital passport size photo of 132 x 170 pixels maximum of 50 kb. You also need to upload a scanned color photo with your full signature of size 132 x 60 pixels maximum of 30 kb. Final Submission Before the final submission, please ensure that you have entered all the correct information. In case you wish to change any information you have entered click on the tab provided to go and change it. No change of information is permitted after final submission. Printing the form After the final submission you are permitted to print the application form. If you are unable to upload the required photographs, then take a print of the form and manually attach the photograph and signature.

Information Brochure: 2017-2018 RESULT - AWAITED (RA) CASES Result awaited cases are the applicants who have appeared the qualifying exams but the results are not published till the last date of application. Such candidates are also eligible to apply for consideration of provisional admission. All such candidates will be required to produce proof of having passed the qualifying st examination with required eligibility conditions to the institute latest by 31 August, 2017, failing which such provisional admission will stand cancelled. Such students will be given average percentage of marks while preparing the merit list. If the candidate is found ineligible at a later date even after admission to SUIIT his/her admission will be cancelled without refunding the admission amount. Admit Card will be available on the web for eligible candidates from 17 June, 2017 and onwards. Candidates should login and download the same. Admission Applications incomplete in any respect will be rejected. The list of eligible applicants will also be displayed on our website. All types of fees prescribed in the Information Brochure must be deposited through STATE BANK COLLECT link available in SUIIT website www.suiit.ac.in.(After successful payment the candidates shall deposit a copy of the e-receipt with duly signed registration form) B. Fees can also be deposited by Demand Drafts which will be mentioned in the selection letter (Duly signed by the Candidate with Application Number in the back side of DD).

Information Brochure: 2017-2018 ADMISSION PROCESS FOR UG CANDIDATES: All admissions into B. Tech CSE/ECE/EEE (both regular and lateral entry) shall be done through OJEE-2017 counseling. SUIIT will strictly follow the “Return of the original documents”, “Cancellation or Withdrawal of Admission”, “Reservation policy” etc of OJEE - 2017.
ADMISSION PROCESS FOR PG CANDIDATES: Selected candidates can take admission to different courses of SUIIT, for which they are selected, in person or by post. The process of admission is done by depositing the following documents to the institute. a.
College Leaving Certificate (CLC) in original and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended
b.
Mark Sheet and Certificates in original starting from Xth to last qualifying examinations (In case, detailed marks are not provided in the final mark sheet, Mark sheets of first and second Examinations / all previous semesters are to be submitted separately).
c.
Migration Certificate in original for candidate from other University. In case the parent University is not providing the migration certificate at the time of admission, the admission of candidate will still be allowed if he/she gives an undertaking to produce the same latest by 31st October, 2017
d.
Five self-attested passport size coloured photographs
e.
Caste Certificate in original for SC/ST. candidates if applicable.
f.
Copy of e-receipt of depositing of required fees specified in the Intimation Letter (page – 3 „mode of payment‟)

Normally the cancellation or withdrawal of admission is discouraged. A) In case of B. Tech programs, SUIIT will strictly follow the Refund Policy prescribed by OJEE – 2017. B) In case of other programmes (except B. Tech), SUIIT follows UGC guideline (refer notification - D.O. No. 1-3/2007 (CPP-II) dated 6th December 2016 on “Remittance and Refund of Fees and Other Student-centric Issues”) for refund of fees on cancellation and withdrawal of admission. Sl. No 1

In case of (1) in the table above, the institute shall deduct an amount not more than 10% of the aggregate fees as processing charges from the refundable amount.
b)
Fees shall be refunded by the institute to an eligible student within fifteen days from the date of receiving a written application from him/her in this regard.

Reservation Policy for B. Tech Programmes is same as OJEE Reservation Policy for other programmes:
a) 22.5% and 16.25% of seats in each course are reserved for candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes respectively. The reserved seats are not interchangeable between rd
SCs and STs and the reserved seats lying vacant after 3 notification shall be de-reserved and open to all categories of applicants. No admission will be made beyond the sanctioned strength in Self-financing Courses. b) One seat in each department will be reserved for Physically Handicapped candidates. Such candidate is required to produce a certificate from the C.D.M.O. regarding his/her disability for 40% and above. On the basis of the certificate issued by the C.D.M.O. concerned admission under PH category may be considered by the respective Head of the Department / Course Coordinator. c) Concessions for the wards of Kashmiri migrants for admission shall be allowed as per the directive of the MHRD, Govt. of India. d) 5% relaxation in qualifying marks is allowed to SC/ST candidates

* The exact dates for the important academic events during an academic session shall be specified in the Academic Calendar of the Institute. REGISTRATION In the beginning of each semester, every student shall register, on the dates specified in the Academic Calendar, for the courses he/she intends to pursue during the semester. The choice of courses for which a student can register is limited by the courses being offered in the semester and also the prescribed curriculum of the Programme. The semester-wise structure of the curriculum shall show clearly the normal load for which a student is expected to register during various semesters. The Semester registration procedure shall be completed when a student has: i. Filled in the registration form mentioning clearly the courses intended to be pursued during the semester and countersigned by the Dean Academic Affairs. ii. Paid all the outstanding dues including the dues of the current semester. At the end of the semester, a grade is awarded, in a course, to only those students who have registered for that course. LATE REGISTRATION A student who fails to register on the prescribed day of registration, due to some compelling reasons, may register later within 15 days of registration day on payment of late registration fee Rs. 200.00 with due permission of the Dean Academic Affairs, SUIIT. CHANGE OF STREAM (IN CASE OF B. TECH STUDENTS ONLY) Change of stream is permissible to the eligible students after the second semester and before commencement of classes of third semester as per rules. GRADE REPORT At the end of each semester, a copy of the Grade Report is issued to each student. The Grade Report incorporates the list of all the courses taken up to the last completed semester along with the grades obtained in each course. WITHHOLDING OF GRADES The Grade Report of a student may be withheld for various reasons. In case there is any indiscipline cases pending against a student, his/her Grade Report will be withheld. The Grade Report of a student may also be withheld if he/she fails to clear the dues pending against him/her, including mess dues, Hostel dues.

Information Brochure: 2017-2018 REQUIREMENT OF ATTENDANCE A candidate shall be required to attend 75% of lectures and practical classes separately offered during the semester. Condoning of attendance may be granted by the authority only to the extent of 15% in exceptional cases. When a candidates has been deputed by Institute/University to represent the Institute/University/State for any activity, the lectures delivered during his/her absence, shall not be counted towards the calculation of percentage of attendance, provided the HOD certifies to that effect. UGC guidelines will be followed strictly in case of attendance. SUIIT has its own attendance management system to inform the students about their attendance regularly. STUDENTS‟ CODE OF CONDUCT AND RAGGING The SUIIT strictly implements anti-ragging programme. SUIIT will take serious disciplinary action against students indulged in ragging. Students should report any such incident to SUIIT authority either by phone or by e-mail to the designated persons notified in the beginning of the academic year. HOSTELFEES, ADMISSION AND RULES (i)

ADMISSION: Students seeking admission into the Hostels shall have to apply with proper procedure on the date of admission. Hostel accommodation may be provided to students of SUIIT depending upon availability of vacant seats in the hostels. The boarder shall have to be guided by the Mess Rules and Hostel Guide Lines of SUIIT. DISCIPLINE: Boarders are expected to maintain discipline and proper atmosphere of studies in the hostels. Any indiscipline matter will be placed before Disciplinary Committee of SUIIT and action will be taken as deem suitable. The decision of the authority will be final in this regard. INTERPRETATION For any interpretation in respect of all the provisions of the Prospectus and on all those aspects where no mention is there in the Prospectus/ Information Brochure, the decision of the Chairman, Governing Body shall be treated as final.
