MESSAGE F R OM T HE DE AN CEPT University focuses on understanding, designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. Its teaching programs build thoughtful professionals and its research programs deepen understanding of human settlements. Urbanization is growing in India at an increasing pace requiring large basic amenities and infrastructure. A massive input of resources is required to strengthen, improve and enlarge the amenities and infrastructure. This calls for development of new technologies and judicious use of existing ones and where necessary, appropriate technology. Competent technocrats to plan, design, construct and maintain the constructions will also be required. Master of Technology in Infrastructure Engineering Design (MIED) program aims to combine infrastructure engineering and design enabling students to add complementary aspects such as infrastructure planning, financing, and management.

AB OUT T HE P R OGRAM The primary objective of Master of Technology in Infrastructure Engineering Design (MIED) is to cater to the demand of infrastructure industry and produce professionals with specific skill sets aligned with industry needs. MIED program aims to combine infrastructure engineering and design, enabling students to add complementary aspects such as infrastructure planning, financing, and management. A student potentially can develop focus through verticals and horizontals. Vertically, the sector is of primary interest and the choice of focus area follows. Alternatively, a student could develop skills horizontally, in which the focus area is of primary interest covering more than one sector. INFRASTRUCTURE SECTOR

TRANSPORT

URBAN + RURAL

Includes urban transport infrastructure, highways and expressways, aviation and airports, shipping and seaports, and multimodal transport hubs.

Infrastructure includes publicly provided infrastructure systems (e.g., water supply, sewerage, storm water drainage, solid waste management).

REAL ESTATE

ENERGY & POWER

Includes residential development (including townships) commercial development, and industries, with special focus on SEZs, SIRs, and peri-urban areas.

Includes electricity, gas, and renewable/alternative energy sources and its production, supply, and distribution.
