Saturday, May 20 at 11:00 am a Mass of Anointing will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Parish in Guelph. Illness and suffering have always been among the gravest problems that confront our human life. Jesus, the eternal physician had great compassion toward the sick. His preferential love for the sick has not ceased. Christ not only allows himself to be touched by the sick but makes their miseries His own. So that we may receive His grace and healing He instituted the Sacrament of the Sick for us. This sacrament, is not only for those at the point of death, but for any faithful who are in any danger from sickness or old age, You are invited to come, bringing the sick and the elderly to this Mass.

Eating the Flesh of the Son of Man The grace given to him who receives the Sacrament will be proportionable to the state in which he shall present himself to receive it. This Sacrament is of an infinite virtue, because it contains in it Jesus Christ whole and entire, who is the Fountain of all Grace, and also makes us partakers of the fruits and merits of his Passion, which is of infinite value.

International Conscientious Objectors Day
Stephen Woodworth, the heroic, pro-life, former MP for Kitchener Centre, has organized an important event in response to the undeclared war being waged against freedom and democracy in Canada, including in Ontario's healthcare system. For decades, Canadians have been free from any requirement to contribute, even indirectly, to the deaths of others in violation of their conscience. Now the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is threatening to punish doctors who refuse orders to cooperate, by effective referral, in arranging assisted suicide, regardless of their conscientious objection. Voice your conscientious objection to the coercive assisted suicide regime on Monday, May 15, 7:00 - 8:30 pm at Carl Zehr Square, Kitchener City Hall, 200 King St. West, Kitchener. Conscientious Ontarians won't want to miss this event! Please show you care about freedom by joining us!
St. John’s Parish Mission Statement We believe deeply that Jesus Christ is in our midst, in ourselves and in each other. In our faith journey we will be the heart, hands, feet and voice of Jesus Christ, reaching out to all.
SACRAMENTS Baptisms Let us welcome, Easton Alexander & Emmett Christopher Curtis and Hunter Joziah Longstaff, who were received into the Church last weekend. May God bless and guide them through the faith and example of their parents, godparents & family.

Foster Parents Are Urgently Needed!
Family and Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County (F&CS) has a shortage of foster home. There are over 160 children and youth in the care of F&CS with over 65 living in a foster home. With only 73 approved foster homes, most parenting younger children and siblings, F&CS is now having to place our community’s children outside Guelph and Wellington County into privately run foster care organizations. Having children move away from their community creates barriers for families to see and plan for their children, disconnects children from their home communities, networks and supports and decreases the community’s ability to engage with our vulnerable young people. Our foster parents receive a daily financial per diem and various supports are available as a foster parent with F&CS. To learn more about fostering at FCS-GW or to attend an information session, please connect with Melanie Williamson at 519-824-2410, ext. 2315.
But he must find souls prepared, and the more excellent the preparation shall be, the greater will the grace be we shall receive. He who goes to the sea to fetch water takes as much as the vessel he carries along with him can contain. There will be no want of water in the sea, which is an infinite abyss, but he will have only according to the greatness of the vessel. This is what befalls all those who come to this divine Sacrament, which is the sea of all graces, and thus is fulfilled in them what David says, Open thy mouth wide and I will fill it (Ps 81:11). Venerable Father Louis of Granada (g1588)
On this Mother’s Day in May, which is Mary’s month, we remember that our Blessed Mother was honored above every other human being besides Jesus Himself when she was asked by God to bear His Son. We ask God’s blessing on all women, because all women, no matter what their state in life, are specially privileged to bring Christ into the world. Mary is our model in joy and in suffering, in trust and in sorrow. We ask Mary to intercede for our earthly mothers and for all the women who cared for us, and we ask the Holy Spirit to increase our love so that we will always honor the women in our lives. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
