Mayor Speaks Out Against Racism HALTON HILLS, ON – Recent incidents both local and abroad have prompted Mayor Bonnette to issue a strong message about the need for community vigilance in standing up to racism. “It will not be tolerated in this community,” he said, adding that “Everyone is a steward of this town and I urge residents to stand up against negative comments and acts of graffiti. We are all citizens of the world!” Earlier in the month the Mayor received a call about a defaced abandoned building marred with offensive slurs. Residents noticing incidents such as this on public property are encouraged to contact Dick Spear, Superintendent of Public Works. “We’ll do our best to get a crew out there to remove the graffiti within 24 hours.” he said.
