Presentation date: September 2012 Date viewed or listened if audio podcast: February 6th 2017 Summary of the talk: This video talks about the relationship between humans and machines. Human computer symbiosis. This video emphasis the importance of man and computers working together. Human computer symbiosis is making us more advance and success as a species. For example, computers cannot predict unusual patterns. Therefore, when thieves steal money or hack into accounts, it is up to the human to analyze criminal’s behaviors to catch financial data thieves. When a devastating Earthquake hit Haiti there was only one organization that could identify the flood patterns in Haiti. Using social media data and other geospatial information, the U.S. army was able to identify camps for relocation based on a priority need. This emphasizes the importance of the relationship between human and machine. Interesting things I learned from the talk: I learned that it is not impossible for humans to defeat machine following certain tasks such as chess. In fact, machines can only calculate information based on predicted patterns. It is up to the person to think of a plan to solve a difficult problem If both the human and computer work together to focus on certain tasks then we can vastly improve seemingly impossible problems thought to have no solution. When humans and computers focus on specific issues to solve an issue then we can solve tasks that neither human or computer can solve alone. Human Computer cooperation will allow us to help society to grow and move forward. Evaluation of the presenter: This speaker was very interesting and knowledgeable. I feel that he certainly was well prepared and knew a lot of information on the subject of the Human Computer Relationship. This is important to give the audience a good interpretation of why this relationship is important to society. Evaluation of the talk: I thought that this conversation was very engaging and entertaining. I liked how the speaker used his knowledge to talk to engage the crowd. I would defiantly recommend this video to other people I would know. I would love to listen to this again if possible. I think this subject in general would show my family members and friends to importance of interacting and working with computers to finish tasks.
