Olympic doctor who happens to be facing separate counts of sexual assault. His victims are all from the USA team he “treated” for injuries. These girls have spoken out against him to prevent other girls from becoming victims. Ally Raisman first made allegations on the show 60 Minutes, and has talked about it on several platforms. Raisman claims that Nassar would abuse her while supposedly treating her injuries. She also says that he would buy her small gifts to “win her over.” After she made the claims, more athletes came for-

ward. Raisman had never worked with any other doctor and was told that Nassar was the best that there was. Raisman said all of this a month after McKayla Maroney alleged that she had been abused for years, beginning when she was 13. Nassar is currently in jail for pleading guilty to child pornography charges. He’s now awaiting trial for the abundance of ath-

Invisible traumas victimize countless numbers of military personnel, leaving vast numbers of soldiers trapped in detrimental, internal places that can be extremely difficult to escape and overcome. Any person that has not endured the events from a warzone cannot understandably fathom what the events actually consisted of, in contrast to the individuals that did go through it and the issues they face now, as a result. Veterans return home with varying changes, corresponding to what they were exposed to. Therapy programs are

in effect to assist these individuals in attempts to either treat or better handle their mental, emotional, and physical alterations. Art therapy is one of the most influential ways that veterans can express how they are feeling, rather than attempt to put it into words. The men and women receive a plain face mask that they can personally illustrate with images that symbolically portray various matters of their lives such as death, physical pain, and nationalism. The National Intrepid Center of Excellence, is a Department of Defense organization operating for the advancement of clinical care, the process of diagnosing individuals, as well as supporting research and education of service members that are suffering from traumatic brain injuries and varying psychological health conditions that impact their lives. Melissa Walker, an art therapist and a healing arts program coordination for the NICoE, uses the art therapy method with patients as a way to communicate with the individuals in a way where

Trimesters to Semesters Bay City Central has had trimesters for quite a while. Splitting the school into three twelve week parts, five classes in each day. There is a midterm halfway through each trimester, then finished up with a final exam. Next year will be different, it has been decided to cut the year into two halves with six classes in each day. This means less chances to make up classes for students, as you will go from 15 classes a year to 12. Many do not like the decision and think it makes it harder on the students. Having less variety also will be a disadvantage for students, as the three

classes cut out will most likely be electives. You have to wonder why this decision was made, and there is no clear answer. It also brings up many questions, such as how it will affect the lunches, start and finish times to the day, and even the length of classes. Obviously the classes will most likely be

shorter by adding a class to the day. Maybe a positive of the change will be more time spent in class, meaning a better grade and a better understanding of the subject. Although only switching up classes once a year could be a bad thing, as students will most likely get sick of having the same classes over and over again. Seeing how long semesters last will be interesting to watch heading into next year. The negatives seem to outweigh the positives, but only time will tell.

Thanksgiving DIY Snacks The year 2017 has brought the cutest new DIY snacks for the holidays. The two snacks that I will be sharing today are going to be cute desserts. They are very easy, as well as fun to make with friends and family. The first dessert is an adorable acorn doughnut. You start with a vanilla glazed doughnut hole. I recommend for easiest construction to purchase doughnut holes from a bakery, so you will not have make them yourself. Next, you will dip the top of doughnut hole in melted chocolate, then immediately dip that melted chocolate in sprinkles. For the best Thanksgiving acorn doughnut, use fall colored sprinkles. Lastly, you break a pretzel stick small enough to stick in the top of the doughnut hole finishing

off the acorn treat. The next dessert is bite sized Candy Pretzel Turkeys. These cute turkey bites only need five ingredients to make. To start the process of making these candy bites, take a small pretzel twist and place a slightly melted a rolo

Teacher of the Week: Mr. Schisler Teachers are incredible individuals. They teach students life lessons, mature them as they go, and help them develop skills and strengths that’ll benefit their future. A teacher that respects and strives for his students’ success is Mr. Tobin Schisler, the Biology/ Chemistry teacher at Bay City Central High School. Schisler is a graduate of Ferris State University. At Ferris State, he worked hard and received his Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Bachelor's Degree in Biology Education and his Masters Degree for Arts and Science. While at Bay City Central High School, Schisler has worked as the Varsity Golf coach and the coach of the Science Olympiad Team. Schisler is always making efforts to challenge his students and help them gain confidence. He always keeps them interacted with classwork. A few of his main goals for his students from the

Alabama Senate candidate has been facing sexual misconduct allegations for the past week. Several ladies have come forward, some as young as 14, when the supposed assault happened. This has led to the Republican Party looking for options to replace him. Although, Moore has repeat-

edly denied all allegations of sexual misconduct. This doesn't deny the fact that his pool of followers have decreased since allegations have started. Moore says, “Allegations are a desperate attempt to stop my political campaign for the United States Senate.” Moore claims it's an attack on his character and reputation. He added that the alleged incidents happened almost 40 years ago. Caring for children and, “Hoping the people can look past this charade in the upcoming primary,” Moore told CNN. If allegations become news of being true, Moore would face three charges of sexual miscon-

Clint Malarchuk Clint Malarchuk is a veteran goalie that played in the NHL. Malarchuk played for three teams: the Quebec Nordiques, the Washington Capitals, and the Buffalo Sabers. His career went from 1981 to 1992, and he came from western Canada. Growing up, he was diagnosed with OCD, plus he was hospitalized several times for anxiety. Hockey was his gateway and helped him feel free from anxiety and depression. He had a father who was an abusive and an alcoholic. Malarchuk was known as a tough guy. He played over 300 games in the NHL and he was also a professional rodeo bronc saddle and bare-back rider. He is best known for almost dying on the ice after getting his throat slit open from a skate blade. It cut his carotid artery and jugular vein back in 1989. After 300 stitches and 1.5 liters of blood, he went back to play for the Sabers after the incident. Three years later, his career end-

Joji: Not so Filthy Anymore George Miller is a man from Osaka, Japan who has recently been attracting attention from many people with his new music under the stage name “Joji.” His music, which can be described as trip-hop and lo-fi, with elements of trap, folk, electronic, and R&B. On November 3, he released his first EP, titled In Tongues, which contained 6 songs lasting a total of 16 minutes. The songs include 2 songs previously released, “Will He” and “WORLD$TAR MONEY”, which were released as singles before. Currently In Tongues is 58 on the Billboard Top 200

Joji is a new project to the already famed George Miller. He is most famously known for his absurdist Youtube personality, Filthy Frank, and his rap persona, Pink Guy. He is also known for creating the Harlem Shake meme. Filthy Frank can be described as the anti-vlogger of Youtube. The character was created for his sketch-based comedy that involved many of his characters, including Salamander Man, Chin Chin, and Safari Man. This channel is known for its vulgar and disgusting content that is not enjoyed by those easily offended or grossed out.

Call of Duty: World War 2 Call of Duty WW2 is a firstperson shooter video game made by Sledgehammer Games. The release date for the video game was November 3rd, 2017. This video game released worldwide to Microsoft Windows, Playstation 4, and Xbox One. On the come-up of the release date, video game critics gave very positive feedback towards the game. Call of Duty WW2 is the second Sledgehammer developed game. The first was Call of Duty Advance Warfare. This video game has a little bit of every Call of Duty in it, such as: Black Ops, Modern Warfare 1, 2, & 3, and Advanced Warfare. COD: WW2 made $500+ million dollars in the first three days. Impressive huh? This video game includes game modes Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies. Each game mode has a different plot but same WW2 setting. He used pink guy as a way to release his music originally and turned into a comedic rapper. “I've always wanted to make normal music. I just started the YouTube channel to kind of bump my music. The Fight for White Supremacy It’s common knowledge that the Civil War ended in the abolishment of slavery. Although it would be fair to say, slavery still occurs everyday, just not publicly. White people can’t let go of the fact that AfricanAmericans are also people, and deserve equality. A documentary on Netflix shines the light on the people who genuinely believe the white race is supreme. In the film, maker Dan Murdoch meets the Loyal White Knights. These people claim to be the largest chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. The infamous group attempts to explain to the public why they hold rituals, wear gowns and hoods, and claim to

Causes of Eating Disorders An eating disorder is when someone is focused to much on their weight and body shape, which could lead to dangerous way of eating. Some eating disorders include, bulimia, anorexia and binge eating. These eating disorders affect both males and females drastically. Having an eating disorder can be caused by having an unrealistic expectation of oneself. Other causes may be a feeling abandonment, or loneliness. Friends and family members who have high expectations of appearance may also push someone to have an eating disorder. Eating disorders are treatable, medication for anorexia is used less than medication for other

disorders. Antidepressants are prescribed for underlying health problems, which can help treat binge eating. Antidepressants can improve a patient’s mood who are struggling with anxiety or depression. Lastly, fluoxetine is the only antidepressant approved by the food and drug administration, fluoxetine helps bulimia respond to other antidepressants. Stress is one of the main causes of obesity, due to all the fats, high sugar, and calories found in comfort foods. Comfort foods calm the body’s response to stress, which is why it lowers the high stress levels. For anorexia, some symptoms include, refusal to eat, denial of hunger and excessive exercise. For bu-

The Queen of Tejano Music Selena Quintanilla was a famous Mexican-American singer and songwriter, she was known as the “Queen of Tejano Music.” Quintanilla was born April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. When she was just ten years old, her and her family started a band called the “Selena Y Los Dions”, and it featured Quintanilla as the lead singer, her sister, Suzette, on the drums, her brother, Abraham, on the bass guitar, and with her father, Abraham, a former musician, managed the band for them. Quintanilla became a big hit all over the world, and made her recording debut in the ‘80’s. Quintanilla won both “Best Female Vocalist of the Year”, and “Performer of the Year.” Her 1990 album, Ven Conmigo, was the first Tejano record to get gold recording, which means to sell

over 500,000 copies. With Quintanilla’s records still going strong, she also won a Grammy Award in 1993 for her album Live. Quintanilla married her lead guitarist, Chris Perez in 1992. Soon after the Live release and her marriage with Perez, Quintanilla was killed on March, 31,

Cyber Bullying Cyberbullying has become a huge issue in the United States because of how fast our technology is expanding. With the technology we have today, many teens find it easier to talk behind the screen instead of in person. Cyberbullying can be: hurtful comments, threats, or rumors posted or messaged to another individual. This type of behavior can lead to suicide or other harmful actions. The people of the US need to join in to stop bullying online, and in the real world. Bullying is usually repetitive, and can mentally and physically break a person down. In many bullying situations, there are unequal amounts of power. The person doing the bullying tends to feel power over the victim being bullied. Cyberbullying frequently occurs because bullies feel empowered behind the screen, and they don’t have the courage to say these things in person. Many adolescents have taken their life because of bullying, and schools seem to be cracking down. At Bay City Central, we have an Anti-Bullying Club as a pledge to end bullying. Bullying is taken seriously here. We pledge not only to refrain ourselves from bullying, but also to interfere when we see that it is happening. Whether you stand up for the victim, or go and get help for the person, we don’t just stand by and watch it happen.

Veteran’s Day

Veteran’s Day is celebrated every year in the United States on November 11th. It is when we remember the soldiers who are and have fought for our freedom. Veteran’s Day was first created on May 13, 1938, originally called Armistice Day. The name was changed to Veteran’s Day on June 1, 1954. It was first called Armistice Day to remember everybody that fought in World War 1, and then it was changed to Veterans Day for those that served in the other wars. There are many ways these soldiers who have fought for us are remembered, but the most popular memorials are Arlington

National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Arlington National Cemetery is always a popular place that is visited on Veteran’s Day because it is where many soldiers are buried and remembered. On Veteran’s Day, there will usually be flowers or an American flag put on every single grave in the cemetery. There are also other things that are placed on people’s graves by family members or friends that come to visit them. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is also a very popular place that isn’t just for Veteran’s Day but there is always a ceremony that is held on Veterans Day with the president.

The highly regarded actor Kevin Spacey has come under a lot of fire recently from the sexual allegations against him throughout his career. Spacey, one the main characters on House of Cards, a popular show on Netflix. However, with these allegations, he is being removed from the show. According to USA.com, he has more than 15 accusations against him for sexual conduct in and out of the workplace over his career. That, by itself, is hard to defend, especially when it comes from coworkers that he had worked with at some point in his career. The main accusation that really

set up Spacey for failure was by Anthony Rapp, who accused him of sexual conduct, back when Rapp was just 14 years old, and Spacey was 26. The Toy Hall of Fame was founded in 1998 in the direction of Ed Sobey, and the toys were housed at A.C Gilbert’s Discovery Village in Salem, Oregon. When this tradition became more popular throughout the years, the toys were moved to the Strong National Museum of Play, which is now The Strong in Rochester, New York in 2002. Roy Halladay’s Tragic Death Roy Halladay was a two-time Cy Young winner and was an MLB pitcher for 16 years. He played for both the Philadelphia Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays. Halladay was 40 years old. He recently retired from the game of baseball, four years ago, and has been enjoying the retired life since. He was also apart of eight All-Star games, threw a perfect game, and also a post season no -hitter. Halladay’s record was 203 -105 in 16 seasons, along with a 3.38 ERA. Halladay was a great player on the field, and also a great person off of the field. Roy Halladay recently got his pilot’s license for airplanes, and has been flying almost everyday

since. "Being a pilot, flying planes, that was his passion," Nocco said. "He would talk about it, about refurbishing planes.” Halladay had been seen doing flips and tricks over the Gulf of Mexico days before his tragic crash on Tuesday November 7th, 2017. His tragic crash sent shots throughout the sports world, as not only a great player, but a great person, had been declared dead. Halladay was doing something he loved as he passed away. Transgender in Office Virginia voters are making a large impact in the political world by electing the first transgender candidate in the house of delegates. Danica Roem surpassed incumbent Bob Marshall after he held the seat for 26 years, or 13 terms. Roem will be the first openly transgender candidate in Virginia’s legislative body. Roem captured 54.59% of voters ,to Marshall’s 45.36%. Monica Roberts, who covers issues in the transgender community, confirmed that Roem is the first openly transgender member in state legislature in the U.S. Althea Garrison, who held office in Massachusetts, was openly transgender, but did not run her 1992 campaign as transgender. She stated her true sexuality after being elected. Cecile Richards, Planned Parenthood president, congratulated Roem in a tweet saying, “Couldn't be more thrilled for Danica Roem. The Wolves’ Howl Volume VI, Issue X Vault Found in Giza’s Pyramid A large and previously unknown void has been detected in the Great Pyramid of Giza. This Great Pyramid is also known as the Khufu’s Pyramid. A series of chambers were discovered after being hidden since the construction of the pyramid around 4,500 years ago. Led by Mehdi Tayoubi, the President of the French nonprofit Heritage Innovation Preservation Institute and Kunihiro Morishima, a physicist and professor at Nagoya University. The discovery of the vault was capable by using a non-invasive method called muon tomography. This method harnesses the power of light to probe delicate structures on Earth. This newly discovered chamber is the fourth found chamber. This cavity is said to be

The Wolves’ Howl Volume VI, Issue X Naming MU69 Something Memorable On January 1, 2019, the New Horizons space probe will pass its next flyby destination at 1.6 kilometers past Pluto in the Kuiper Belt. The New Horizon mission team would like to nickname the destination, currently called (486958) 2014 MU69, something more memorable. They’ve opened a voting poll for the public to nominate and vote on names they’d like to see MU69 be nicknamed. Since the voting began, five names have already been retired. This means that a community consensus has been reached, and the team are allowing for more names to be nominated and voted on. The retired names so far are: Mjölnir (Thor’s hammer) at 9344 votes, Z’ha’dum (fictional planet at the edge of the galaxy) with 8647 votes, Peanut, Almond, Cashew (shapes for small bodies) with 7993 votes, Sagittarius (constellation behind MU69/mythical centaur) with

3359 votes, and Pluck and Persistence (traits of New Horizons) lastly with 1488 votes. Other names are still being voted on, some of the more popular being Uluru, Pangu, Chomolungma and Sagarmatha being the top three. These names have a high chance of being retired, since the voting doesn’t end until December 1st. The New Horizons Science Team is excited to see what names are chosen for MU69. Thor: Ragnarok Review Thor: Ragnarok is the third movie of the Thor series. The movies previously released were Thor and Thor: The Dark World. This movie series has been one of the most popular Marvel franchise. It has been a while since the last one came out, in 2013. Thor: Ragnarok features a main cast of Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Cate Blanchett as Hela, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
