Weekly Incident Summary April 11-24, 2016 HALTON HILLS, ON – Tuesday, April 12, 2016 02:34 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Hyde Park. On scene fire staff assisted ambulance staff with gaining entry into the building and the apartment. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 11:29 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Sargent Road. On scene staff checked the unit using detectors and no readings were found. Fire staff changed the battery and cleared the scene. 12:13 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Eighth Line. No permit was available and the fire was extinguished. The occupant was advised of the requirement for Burn Permits for any future burns. 13:43 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Shortill Road. On scene fire staff assisted with packaging the patient into the ambulance. Thursday, April 14, 2016 16:16 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Oakridge Drive. On scene staff met with the homeowner who was running their car in the garage, setting off the CO detector. Using detectors, crews found zero readings of CO. 16:22 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Hillside Drive. On scene staff met with the homeowner who indicated one of their CO detectors had activated. Using detectors, crews found zero readings of CO in the home. The activated alarm was found to be faulty. The resident had other detectors in the home functioning normally and was advised to discard the faulty unit due to its age. 19:56 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an unknown odour investigation on Gollop Cr. Upon investigation fire staff noted a slight smell emitting from the basement drain in the laundry room area. Zero readings of CO found. Staff topped up the floor drain with water and cleared the scene. Friday, April 15, 2016 06:06 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a possible vehicle fire on McIntyre Cr. On scene staff met with the homeowner who advised that flames and smoke could be seen inside the car. Crews gained access and extinguished the fire.

The majority of the fire was contained to the dash area and passenger side door. Estimated dollar loss is $6,000.00. 08:49 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Beardmore Crescent in Acton. On scene staff found staff found an upper floor detector malfunctioning. Using fire department detectors, crews found zero readings of CO in the home. Due to the age of the detector, the homeowner was advised to have it replaced. Other detectors in the home were operating properly. 10:34 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Princess Anne Drive. On scene staff met with building personnel. It was noted that the alarm was caused by the accidental activation of a pull station. The fire alarm system was reset with no concerns. 12:10 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle rollover in the area of Trafalgar and Hornby Roads. Ambulance was on scene upon arrival providing patient care to the driver of the vehicle. As a result of the accident Trafalgar Rd was shut down for several hours between Steeles Avenue and 5 Side Road. Saturday, April 16, 2016 13:16 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Mountainview Rd S. Enroute, staff were updated that there were no fire conditions in the home. Upon arrival fire staff found light smoke throughout the residence. The microwave was carried outside prior to opening it. Once opened, a burnt bagel was found that had filled the microwave with smoke. Fire staff ventilated the home and cleared the scene. 13:36 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a grass fire on Highway 7. On scene fire staff found a small grass fire encompassing approximately 400 square meters of long grass and brush. The fire was caused by a small fire in a stone surround pit. The homeowner was cleaning up yard waste when the wind suddenly picked up and spread the fire to nearby brush. 15:21 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Ann Street. On scene staff met with the homeowner who advised that spilled food while cooking had activated the alarm system. Staff confirmed the false alarm and cleared the scene. Sunday, April 17, 2016 10:07 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a motor vehicle collision on Winston Churchill Blvd. Ambulance and Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival and fire was not required. 10:16 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Confederation St in Glen Williams. On scene staff met with the homeowner who was conducting a small backyard fire which was causing light smoke conditions. The homeowner was instructed to allow the fire to burn out completely without adding any more materials to the fire pit. 11:52 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a public assist on Doctor Moore Court in Acton. On scene staff met with the homeowner who was having issues with their

smoke/CO alarms. Staff ensured the batteries were installed properly and cleared the scene. 15:39 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a vehicle fire on Old Pine Crest Road in Norval. On scene fire staff found a grass fire that was burning in the ditch adjacent to Winston Churchill Blvd that had spread to a nearby vehicle parked on the property. The vehicle was not fully involved but was approximately 50% damaged by fire after final investigation. Crews extinguished the car fire and grass fire. 17:00 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Killaloe Crescent. On scene staff noted a small fire in a brick pit in the back yard of the property. The homeowner was informed of the requirement to obtain a burn permit. Fire staff extinguished the fire and cleared the scene. 20:28 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of wires arcing on Lorne Street. On arrival crews found wires leading to the garage arcing. The circuit breaker was isolated and power cut to the arcing wires. The resident was directed to call an electrician to repair the wires. Monday, April 18, 2016 08:58 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision resulting in a possible gas leak, on Fourth Line, south of 15 Sideroad. Halton Regional Police was on scene upon arrival with ambulance already transporting patients. On scene fire staff found an overturned gasoline can leaking from the missing vent cap inside the car. The car had struck a gas main on the side of the road. Union Gas was called and fire staff remained on scene until cleared. 16:49 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on 30 Sideroad in Milton. While enroute, staff were advised they were not required on scene. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 10:14 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Dublin Line, east of 25 Sideroad. On scene fire staff provided patient care and assisted with packaging the patient into the ambulance and cleared the scene. 15:04 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Crombie Place. On scene staff found the homeowner burning leaves in their backyard. The burn permit process was explained and the fire extinguished. 19:48 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of an unknown odour on Sinclair Avenue. Building patrons identified the odour similar to natural gas. Staff investigated the building with gas monitoring equipment and found no gases present Wednesday, April 20, 2016 16:24 Hours - Fire fighters responded to the report of smoke in the area of the Hungry Hollow Bridge on Mountainview Road South. Fire staff arrived at the bridge and no smoke or fire was visible.

16:45 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on James Young Drive. On scene fire staff could hear the alarms sounding. Staff entered the home and reset the system with no further problems. 18:13 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a report of a possible grass fire on Regional Road 25. On arrival staff found a burnt area of grass that had been extinguished by the resident. No further action required. Thursday, April 21, 2016 09:59 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Harrop Ave. On scene staff checked the detector and found no issues, but it was noticed that a spider came out of it. Once reinstalled there were no further issues. The homeowner was advised to call back if there were any more issues. Friday, April 22, 2016 22:08 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Norton Crescent. On scene staff met with the homeowner who was burning without a valid burn permit. The burn permit process was explained and the fire was extinguished. Saturday, April 23, 2016 06:31 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Mill St. On scene staff checked the residence with gas detectors and zero readings were found. All smoke alarms were checked, with a low battery found in one of the detectors, which the crews replaced. 17:46 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a burn complaint on Argyll Road. On scene staff met with the homeowner who was burning without a valid burn permit. The burn permit process was explained and the fire was extinguished. 20:38 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Beardmore Crescent in Acton. On scene staff met with the homeowner who advised that their upper floor smoke alarm was activating intermittently. Due to the age of the detector, the homeowner was advised to purchase new detectors. A temporary detector was left with the resident until the hardwired units could be replaced. Sunday, April 24, 2016 16:17 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Guelph St & Hall Road. The vehicle had severed the hydro pole and caused damage to several other poles from the wires being pulled down. No persons were trapped or injured. Fire crews blocked traffic and controlled pedestrian traffic until released by Hydro. 22:59 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Hall Road. This was a pull station that was pulled on the 5th floor. Fire staff checked the building and found no other issues. Building personnel silenced than re-set the system.
