Weekly Incident Summary April 17-23, 2017 HALTON HILLS, ON – Monday, April 17, 2017 12:32 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Commerce Cr in Acton. Prior to arrival on scene, fire staff was advised this was a false call. On scene fire staff met with building personnel who advised that the alarm was caused by burnt toast. 16:28 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a possible kitchen fire on Beardmore Cr in Acton. On scene fire staff entered the home and investigated the kitchen using a thermal imaging camera, and found no signs of extension. Staff then ventilated the house. There was no damage to the stove or kitchen. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 06:43 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Stevens Cr. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. A low battery was deemed the problem and was replaced by fire staff. 10:28 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Main St S. Halton Region Paramedics were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. 11:05 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Maple Ave. On scene fire staff met with the homeowner who confirmed that a contractor working in the home had set off the detector. No further concerns. 11:40 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Main St S in Acton. On scene fire staff provided patient care until Halton Region Paramedics arrived. 18:57 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Church St. Prior to arrival on scene, fire staff was advised this was a false alarm. On scene fire staff met with building personnel who advised that the alarm was caused by burn toast. 21:17 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Garrison Square. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. Fire staff determined the detector was faulty and a new detector was provided. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 12:10 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Sargent Road. On scene fire staff spoke with a contractor who was working where the alarm activated. The alarm was reset with no further concerns.

15:04 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Carruthers Rd. On scene fire staff completed a check of the second floor and found no problems. A strong odour of cigarette smoke was detected where the alarm was triggered. The alarm was silenced and residents were given the ok to return to their units. 17:21 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of 10 Sideroad and Trafalgar Road. On scene fire staff applied absorbant to leaking fluids and provided traffic control until released by Halton Regional Police. 18:03 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Standish St. Halton Region Paramedics were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff assisted paramedics with loading the patient onto the ambulance and cleared the scene. 20:37 Hours - Fire fighters responded to the report of a possible grass fire on River Drive. On scene fire staff investigated the area and found a bonfire burning on the laneway. The crew extinguished the fire and cleared the scene. 21:26 Hours - Fire fighters responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Steeles Ave & Hornby Rd. Halton Regional Police were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff extracted the patient from the vehicle and assisted Halton Region Paramedics with patient care. Thursday, April 20, 2017 20:47 Hours - Fire fighters responded to an unknown odour in the area of Danby Rd and Silver Pond Dr. On scene fire staff checked the area using detectors with no odour found. Friday, April 21, 2017 00:36 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Sinclair & Guelph St. Halton Regional Police and ambulance were on scene upon arrival. Fire staff stabilized the vehicle and cleared the scene. 12:54 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Guelph St. On scene fire staff met with building personnel who advised that work was being done on the sprinkler system. No further concerns. 15:38 Hours – Fire fighters responded to the report of a person pedestrian by a vehicle in the area of Guelph St & Maple Ave. Halton Regional Police and Halton Region Paramedics were on scene upon arrival and advised fire was not required. Saturday, April 22, 2017 12:01 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an alarm activation on Carruthers Rd. On scene fire staff entered the building and found an odour of cigarette smoke. Fire staff located a heat detector that had activated due to water damage. Building personnel was advised to contact a plumber as well as an alarm technician 22:45 Hours – Fire fighters responded to an ambulance assist on Princess Anne Dr. While enroute fire was advised by paramedics that they were no long required.

Sunday, April 23, 2017 04:48 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Corey Circle. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. The cause of the alarm was a faulty battery that fire staff replaced. 13:16 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on North Ridge Cr. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. The cause of the alarm was a faulty detector in the basement. 23:40 Hours – Fire fighters responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) activation on Eagleview Way. On scene fire staff entered the home and using detectors found zero readings. Fire staff replaced the batteries in the detector and cleared the scene.
