Walking Together for Water
Thank you to Fr. Jerzy and all the parishioners of St. John’s Parish. You were so supportive of me when I spoke to you at all the Masses on the weekend of June 10th and 11th. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
We decided Ave Maria would be sung that day. It would join the list of hymns that now transport me to the December morning when frozen earth was broken open to bury my little one. My brave one stood in the doorway, intrigued by the plans being made. We asked was there anything he’d want included in her funeral. Without hesitation it was “Table of Plenty”. My heart cracked wide open. He had requested a hymn we sang at his First Holy Communion the spring before. Jubilant voices had filled the church and serenaded the small hands offering simple gifts of bread and wine for the life-giving sustenance of which we would all feed. We rejoiced in the goodness and innocence of the grace given and openly received. The Eucharist…...
June 25, 2017 What Supports Do Families Need from the Church?
What are the pressures they face in their day to day lives? What are the challenges, joys, highs and lows in families today? Where do they seek support when it is needed? Where do they see the role of the Church in their lives and in helping them cope with everyday life issues and events? The Diocese of Hamilton, through the Family Ministry Office, wants to hear from you on these topics. You can do this in two ways: 1.Attend our Symposium for Families being held at the Cathedral Basilica on September 23rd, beginning with Bishop Crosby saying Mass at 9:30 am and ending at 4:00 pm. 2.Fill in the on line survey posted on the website at: http:// hamiltondiocese.com/offices/family-ministry/symposiumon-family beginning June 28th. The more people who engage in both these events the greater the knowledge we will gather. Family matters - help us discover how the Diocese can help you in the most important role of family. For more information call 905-528-7988 and ask for Teresa (ext. 2250) or Wendy (ext. 2241).

Cursillo Weekends Cursillo, designated by the Vatican as a renewal movement of the Church, has been for many people, a powerful instrument in effecting a new and deeper awareness of what Christianity means in their lives. The three-day weekend is not a retreat in the way one thinks of a retreat. Rather, it provides an experience of a dynamic Christian community where the teachings of Christ are presented and discussed in a spirit of joy and celebration. This year we switched the Cursillo weekends in the Hamilton Diocese from the spring to the fall: Women’s: October 12-15; Men’s: October 26-29. For more info consult: cursillohamilton.org.
Vocations
“Have no Fear.” Considering a ministerial vocation is not popular, but it may be what God is calling you to. If God is calling you to the priesthood, diaconate and consecrated life, contact Father Michael King at 905-528-7988 or
[email protected] . His most holy Body and Blood—beckon me to partake, despite my weariness and weakness, in the banquet. I am called to the feast, as the children were called that day, for I too am his child. Our heavenly Father, in his mercy and love, invites me over and over—to be reminded, restored and renewed—to accept his gift freely given.— We granted my brave one’s request. On that cold December morning, weary voices rose up out of seemingly empty vessel. Tired little hands brought forth bread to be broken and a cup to be shared. The table was made ready. In the quiet solemnity of that day, we accepted the invitation, approached the table and participated in the feast of heaven and earth. On that day we were filled. Next weekend, Bishop Douglas Crosby will consecrate the people of Canada to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at the Cathedral of Christ the King during the 5:00 pm Mass on July 1st. The Pastors of the Diocese have been asked to consecrate the People of God in their parishes at all weekend Masses on July 1st and 2nd. The conclusion of the prayer is to be recited by the entire assembly. Prayer cards will be distributed throughout the church. Please participate in the Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary as we mark the 150th Anniversary of Confederation.
