Town continues to enhance safety on rural roads HALTON HILLS, ON – The Town of Halton Hills has installed additional “flashers” features in several rural intersections to enhance safety and visibility. “The Town is continually looking at ways to make driving on our rural roads safer. These ongoing enhancements are another positive step,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette. The three new light warning flashers are solar powered which also supports the Town’s sustainability efforts. A red beacon flasher was installed above the Stop sign for the 17 Side Road westbound direction traffic, at Fourth Line. Two Amber beacon flashers have been placed above the “Intersection Ahead” signs at 10 Side Road/Sixth Line – for the 10 Side Road approaches. The Town is planning to install additional solar powered flashers in other rural intersections over the next two-to-three years. These installations are all part of the Town’s overall safety improvements to rural roads and intersections. It includes enhanced pavement markings such a yellow centre lines, intersection streetlight illumination and combination of flashers and signs. The pavement marking work is expected to be completed by next year and the intersection streetlight illumination will completed over a five year period.
