THE GRIDIRON Sponsored by the Red & Gray Gridiron Club
Rest on the way Tonight's game at Cumberland Regional marks the last game of the Vineland High School football team's pre-bye week schedule, as the Fighting Clan will earn some needed rest next week to prepare for the season's home stretch. After the bye week, Vineland will host Clearview Regional as part of the VHS Homecoming Festivities before hitting the road against Atlantic City and Mainland Regional. The regular season will culminate with a highly anticipated battle against neighboring rival St. Augustine Prep at Gittone Stadium.

The Vineland High School football team will look to complete its pre-bye week schedule unscathed when they head Cumberland Regional for a 6pm tilt against the Colts. Cumberland Regional is in a rebuilding phase, having won just once in their last 16 contests dating back to last season. The Colts enter tonight's matchip 0-3 on the season, dropping games to Moorestown (30-6), Winslow Township (55-8) and Triton (45-34). Last year, the Fighting Clan hammered the Colts, 49-13, in a drizzly home contest at Gittone Stadium.
Vineland is a much bigger team than Cumberland and will likely aim to exploit that size advantage by serving a heavy dose of the running attack. The Fighting Clan's rushing attack, spearheaded so far by Isaih Pacheco and Nihym Anderson, also features Tahjir Reese and John Garcia, among others, has amassed more than 200 yards in each of its first three games. Vineland fans should expect to see a lot of handoffs and big chunk gians. The Vineland defense also remains staunch, having surrendered just six points in each of its first three games. The formidable defense has speed and size all over the field and is nearly impossible to consitently move the ball against. Should all go according to plan and the Fighting Clan builds a comfortable lead in the first half, they should get the opportunity to give their younger players further game experience as well.

The Vineland High School football team used a 22-point second quarter outburst to blow a close game wide open before cruising to victory, 42-6, over Egg Harbor Township at the Eagles' home field in EHT. Quarterback Isaih Pacheco led the way for Vineland, going off for 217 yards and two towuchdowns, including an impressive 80yard scamper that sealed the victory.
Pacheco also threw a five-yard touchdown 11/23 at Millville (Thanksgiving Day) 10:30am pass to Javier Santana while transfer Tahjir Reese scored two touchdowns in his first game to help the Fighting Clan roll. The *all games in BOLD are home games at Gittone other touchdown came threw the air when Stadium Ryan Shelton connected with Tyreem Powell from three yards out. Both teams struggled to get things going in a scoreless first quarter, but Vineland finally broke through in the second on Pacheco's first touchdown, which went for 20 yards. Pacheco then connected with Santana to make the score 14-0 before Reese scored his first touchdown in the closing minutes of the first half to advance Vineland's lead to 22-0.
