On Wednesday, we had walk to school day. Some kids were running, walking, and jogging. It was kind of cold, but it was still nice out. Some people were walking in groups and others by themselves. Some walked with teachers. Some teachers sat on the sidelines. Max Kleve thought walking on Wednesday was ok, but he prefers running. Overall it was an extraordinary kick-off to the 100 mile club. Don?t forget to be there Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday after or before school to log your miles.

High Sch ool Spor t s Ch eer By:Er in An der sen Kylie Purkeypile is one of Holyoke High School?s cheerleaders. Kylie does cheer because it?s fun, and it?s good teambuilding. Her goals in her cheering are to get better and learn more. Her favorite cheers are HHS and Go Big Green. Kylie?s favorite thing to do in cheer is to tumble, which is also her favorite skill. Her best tumbling skill is her back handspring. Kylie?s favorite stunt is called a full down. A full down is when they throw Tica Penzing in the air and she spins once. Kylie?s favorite person to cheer with is Rylee Schneller. Kylie says that practices can be hard sometimes. Her favorite coach is Katie Frazier.

Sherman Kage is the coach for Holyoke High School Softball. His goals are to teach the girls to be perfect and to hold themselves to a higher standard. He believes these goals will bring success. He thinks that the team will make it to the playoffs in October, but a lot of things have to be in their favor for that to happen. Kage said that coaching is the best job in the world. He thinks that every player is improving every day from where they started. His favorite thing to teach his girls is ?life.? Last night they played and they won both games against Yuma.

Foot ball By:Er in An der sen Slaten Burris is one of our Holyoke Dragon football players. Slaten is the running back on the team, and running back is also Slaten?s favorite position. Slaten is on the varsity team. His favorite drill is any tackling drill. Slaten?s favorite coach is Mr. Balog. His favorite teammate to play with is Michael Ramos. Slaten thinks Michael Ramos is also the hardest working player on the team. Slaten?s biggest competitor on his team is Blake Mosenteen. He says, ?The team's biggest competitor is Wray.? Slaten?s goal is to make playoffs. He also says that's the team goal.

Kaylee Camblin plays on the high school varsity volleyball team. She wears jersey number 20, and her favorite position is middle hitter. Her favorite college volleyball team is University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Kaylee?s favorite drill is the UNC drill. Kaylee thinks the team's biggest competition is Yuma. Her goals are to make it to state and to stay positive. The varsity team has five games left this season. Kaylee has been playing volleyball since 2nd grade. Also on Tuesday October 3rd, the high school varsity volleyball team won in three games against SedgCo.

He has been rehabilitating his arm in preparation for the season after hurting it playing baseball. Ethan thinks the toughest opponent this year will be Sterling.

Aspyn thinks that the most enjoyable person to play with on the team is Sabryn Burris. Aspyn?s goal is to block a spike. At the tournament on Monday, B team won in two games against SedgCo, but lost in two games against Haxtun.

Prof essi onal & Col l ege Sports Baller z Post By Et h an Joh n son This week the NBA preseason started on the 30th of September. On opening night, the Los Angeles Lakers played the new and improved Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves won 108-99 which is a good sign to the Timberwolf fans to see that the new additions are working well with the new coach and players. For the Laker fans, Lonzo Ball looked really good at the beginning, but later in the game he blocked a shot and landed wrong. He ended up rolling his ankle and was taken out of the game for the remainder of the half. He came back and finished the game strong. The Lakers may have gotten the steal of the draft with Kyle Kuzma, who leads the Lakers with 19 points. The other game that night was the Golden State Warriors versus our very own Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets ended up pulling off the win against the reigning world champs. Good news for us as Paul Millsap put up 22 points in his first game with the Nuggets.

It is that time in the year where the most physical sports season, the NHL, is starting. Experts for ESPN have already made their predictions for who will take the Stanley Cup home. Of all the teams in the NHL, the majority of experts chose the Edmonton Oilers to take home the Stanley Cup. In the course of the first few games, the Oilers already have a record of 6-2. In their game last Saturday, the Oilers fell to the Vancouver Canucks 2-3. Let?s hope that the Oilers can keep up a good record.

Another week, another set of NFL games in the books. The Broncos came out with an impressive win over the Raiders, making them second in the AFC West. However, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Redskins on Monday night, making them the only undefeated team in the NFL. A rivalry game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburg Steelers also proved to be a decent game with the Steelers winning. However, a lot of NFL fans were shocked to hear the Carolina Panthers beat the New England Patriots, making them 2-2 right now. This NFL season has been totally unpredictable so far, and there are probably many more shockers to come.

Well, the Rockies had a good season. They lost on Wednesday 11-8 to the Arizona Diamondbacks in the National League Wild Card. The Rockies allowed a staggering four triples in the game, one even being hit by a pitcher. The Diamondbacks started off being up 6-0 before the Rockies scored, but when the Rockies scored, they cut the Diamondbacks?lead to one point. However, the eighth inning was kind to Arizona as they got up to 11 runs and put the game away. In the AL Wild Card, the Yankees beat the Minnesota Twins 8-4.

Towards season 3, she finds out she is the goddess Lady Irene and is gifted with powers, and people start treating her like royalty. I would rate this series a 5 out of 5.

In the show, he has a team that grows throughout the seasons and helps him complete missions and fight crimes. Season 4 starts airing on The CW on October 10th, so be ready set your DVR to record.

His goal was to pilot a 500-pound pumpkin across Boston Harbor. He started at Jeffries Point, in the eastern part of Boston, sailed to a place called Fish Pier, then back to Jeffries Point. Christian?s pumpkin was an Atlantic Giant Pumpkin, which he harvested on September 29. His inspiration for growing a huge pumpkin was visiting the Topsfield Fair, which is known for many agricultural wonders.

Last Sunday night at the Las Vegas Country Music Festival, there was a massive shooting. In this shooting, 58 people were killed and over 500 people were injured by Stephen Paddock. Stephen Paddock was hiding out in a hotel room in the Mandalay Bay Casino & Resort. From a spectator ?s view, the show was going on like normal until people just started dropping. Jason Aldean, the performer at the time of the shooting, quickly ran off stage while the bullet sounds continued. He said, ?There were about 100 bullet shots, a short break, and then it would start again.? After the police found the location of the shooter, they went in to breach the room. When they walked in, they found Stephen dead on the floor.

This all started when Trump called Kim Jong Un a ?rocket man.? A dotard is an old person, especially one who has become weak or senile. Lots of people responded with tweets and memes about Kim calling Trump a dotard. President Donald Trump recently went to Puerto Rico, but the citizens of Puerto Rico were not very happy to see him. So maybe Donald Trump was nice, and the news is being fake.

Most families should have received a paper telling what teacher you have to meet with for your parent teacher conference. However, if you or your parents haven?t figured out what class you are supposed to attend, you may call the school office and ask which teacher to visit. Before you go to your meeting with the teachers, it is important to swing by the office to grab your report card.

Pin k Ou t By: Alm a Alejan dr e October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It is used to raise funds for research to prevent or find a cure for breast cancer. People also host Pink Out Day to support people who have the disease, and to help fight against it. They have football, basketball, or volleyball games decorated in pink to show support, and the players even wear pink while they play. They usually show support by wearing pinks socks or shoes. Next Friday, October 13 is Holyoke?s Pink Out event at the home volleyball game.
