STEM Wor k sh op-Tam ar a Pen zin g By: Emma Thompson Tamara Penzing got accepted for the STEM workshop as a seventh grade student. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. The workshop was in Sterling, Colorado at NJC. This year was her first year going, and she loved it. Her favorite part of it was programming robots and battling robots. When she was there, she engineered a robotic hand that she plans to finish next year. Tamara really had a fun time, and she feels like it was challenging but a good type of challenging. If they will accept her next year, she will gladly go again.

Hi gh School Sports High Sch ool Foot ball By Emmanuel (EV) Vasquez Nain Vasquez plays corner and receiver on the high school Dragons football team. If he could choose his position, he would still be corner and receiver. Nain thinks that Blake Mosenteen is the hardest-working teammate, even though Blake had an unfortunate injury. However, Luis Chafino is Nain?s favorite teammate. His favorite coach is Mr. Balog, and his favorite thing to do in practice is catch balls. Nain expects a big win for the Dragons?next game against Wiggins.

Dist r ict Volleyball By Erin Andersen Grace Dille has just finished her last year as a Holyoke Dragon high school volleyball player. Luckily, for her last year, the team got to go to districts. Districts this year was in Holyoke, Colorado, it was on Tuesday the 24th at 4 four o?clock. The Dragons beat Sedgwick County in three games, but they lost to Wray in five games. Grace?s favorite memory of the year is when the team was on the bus going to Burlington, and the whole team brought their pillow pets. Grace says the hardest working player on the team is Emily Jelden, but she says the most improved is Kaylee Camblin. Grace's favorite person on the varsity team to play with is Taeryn Trumper, and she loves all her coaches. Grace?s jersey number for her last year is number 23.

When Sabryn gets into high school, she wants to be a tumbler in cheer. Her favorite coach is Coach Katie. She loves cheering with Tamara Penzing, and she says that Erin Andersen is the most improved. They will be cheering at the next junior high basketball game. Sabryn had a very fun time at the cheer clinic, although it was very embarrassing. She doesn?t mind the uniforms, but the shorts are her least favorite.

Ju n ior High Bask et ball By: Alm a Alejan dr e Marco Mendoza has been in basketball for 2 years now. He doesn?t have a favorite position. His jersey number is 42, and his favorite drill is 3-man wave. One of the hardest teams the Dragons will play this year is Wray. Marco?s goal is to shoot as many points as possible before the end of basketball season. He does not really know who the hardest working player is yet. No one has been put into A, B, or C teams yet, but the coaches will make that decision before the first game.

Spor t s Baller z Post By Et h an Joh n son This week in the NBA nothing too big went on, but there was some news that rocked the league. Earlier in the week Eric Bledsoe (the starting guard for the Phoenix Suns) tweeted, ?I don?t want to be here.? Even though he did not specify what he wants out of, everyone is assuming that he wants out of the Suns. Afterward, the GM for the Suns said that Bledsoe is as good as gone from the Suns. As of now, he has not been traded, but there are rumors that multiple teams want him and are offering trades for him. On Wednesday, the Suns played the Sacramento Kings, and because of what was going on, the Suns benched their All-Star point guard.

NFL By Tu f f Sigler Many surprising games happened this week, but there was a really good game in the NFL between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Steelers came out on top with a 29-14 win. The game looked like it was going to be a very tight game, but the Steelers let Le?Veon Bell and Ben Roethlisberger do their thing. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 224 yards, and Le?Veon Bell rushed for 134 yards. In the fourth quarter, the Steelers took a large gamble by throwing the ball in a fourth quarter. This converted into a first down that led to a score.

NHL By: St eph en M u r r ay The Dallas Stars and the Colorado Avalanche played on October 24, 2017. The Avalanche pulled a win with a score of 5-3. The Avalanche have a record of 5 wins and 4 losses. On the same day, the Florida Panthers and the Montreal Canadiens played at the home of the Canadiens. The Canadiens won with a score of 5-1 against the Panthers, but Montreal still has a losing record with 2 wins, 6 losses, and 1 tied game.

After winning Game 7 of the American League Championship Series in dominant fashion, the Houston Astros look like they could pull off their first World Series in team history. The Astros and Dodgers are currently tied in the World Series with one win each. Game 3 will be played tonight in Houston, while Game 4 will be tomorrow night, also in Houston. The Dodgers are looking to win their first World Series since 1988, and it?s looking to be anyone?s series.

FUN PAGE A woman is sitting in her hotel room when there is a knock at the door. She opened the door to see a man whom she had never seen before. He said "oh I'm sorry, I have made a mistake, I thought this was my room." He then went down the corridor and in the elevator. The woman went back into her room and phoned security. What made the woman so suspicious of the man? If you know the answer, then go to Mrs. Schroetlin's room and get a dragon dollar.

Review s Paper By: M ax Kleve Paper is a very helpful tool for classrooms. Paper originated from the Egyptian who pounded papyrus reeds together to make a paperish substance that was used for record-keeping. With records come taxes, though. Paper can also give you cuts, which is surprising because it is very thin. It is also great for making airplanes because of its thinness. I would give paper ? stars. It is good because of its functionality, but only 4 because it was partly responsible for taxes.

Sw edish Fish By: St eph en M u r r ay Swedish Fish are a delicious candy to snack on with your good buddies. The look of the fish makes them look so good to eat. Some facts about Swedish Fish is that they only somewhat originate from Sweden. Swedish candy manufacturer Malaco started exporting wine-gum and licorice-based sweets to the U.S. One crazy thing that you would never think would happen is that Oreo offered to have a Swedish Fish flavor. Swedish Fish are vegan because they?re gummy and don?t contain any animal products.

Hall Pases By: Er in An der sen

Yoo-Hoo Ch ocolat e M ilk

Here at Holyoke Jr/Sr High School, we?ve been using hall passes for about two years. This school?s old hall passes were planners, and every student used their own planner for a hall pass. Hall passes now are whatever the teacher may make for one. I would recommend hall passes for teachers who don?t want their students just wandering around. Some teachers make more creative passes than others. For example, Mrs. Bieber uses Barbie dolls, and Mr. Balog uses a globe. I would rate hall passes three out of five stars, because they can be annoying if you really have to go, but they are good to keep kids from ditching classes.

By: Em m an u el (EV) Vasqu ez When I went to Family Dollar this week, I saw that Yoo-Hoo strawberry milk was not in stock. Instead, I grabbed the chocolate flavor that was in stock. I had really big expectations as I knew the strawberry one was very tasty. When I stuck the straw in and took a sip, a huge flavor of chocolate goodness hit my taste buds. It was sweet, but not too sweet. The milk itself was very smooth but creamy. Yoo-Hoo chocolate milk is one dollar at the Family Dollar store. Even though the chocolate milk was very good, I still enjoy the Yoo-Hoo strawberry milk just a bit more.

However, he is expected to spend more time in jail for desertion and misbehavior while on the expedition.

Sear s an d Wh ir lpool Split By Cade Killin Department store giant Sears recently announced the ending of their partnership with appliance retailer Whirlpool. Sears announced that the partnership was over because it was becoming harder to sell Whirlpool appliances. The partnership lasted for over 100 years. Sears will sell the remainder of the Whirlpool inventory, and once all of the inventory is gone there will be no more Whirlpool appliances in Sears. Sears used to sell nearly half of all appliances in the United States, but those days are no more.

Net Neu t r alit y By Max Kleve Net Neutrality is the way the internet has always worked. It prohibits internet service providers, such as AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon, from slowing down or blocking certain websites. If Net Neutrality didn?t exist, big shot websites such as YouTube or Google, would pay more to the ISP (internet service provider) so their website would load faster than a website that doesn?t pay as much, such as Yahoo!. There is a vote that is happening soon to end Net Neutrality, though most people hope it won't pass, so all websites can coexist in peace.

Bor der Wall By Emmanuel (EV) Vasquez During the election, candidate Donald Trump promised to build a wall to keep illegal Mexican immigrants from coming into the United States. Lots of citizens thought this was a lie as the wall would be ?too expensive.? However, Donald Trump has 8 prototypes in progress as you are reading this. They are all between 18 and 30 feet high. This wall will begin from the outside of San Diego, but where it will end is yet to be decided.

Some allowed items are hats, appropriate costumes, and makeup that does not obscure your identity.
