Th e Dr agon Tim es Volume 5, Issue 5 Hom ecom in g Par ade By: Emmanuel (EV) Vasquez Last Friday there was a parade for homecoming week. Every class, club, sport team, and royalty candidate had their very own float. The drama club also had a creative float. I was on the football float along with the elementary and high school football teams. Many floats were throwing candy to the Holyoke citizens. The senior class won the best float prize, the prize being 50 points towards the homecoming championship. After the parade, students went to the homecoming pep rally in City Park.

Hom ecom in g Foot ball Gam e By: Alma Alejandre The homecoming game was very exciting for everyone. Before the game started, the game ball was delivered on a helicopter by two medevac workers. The cheerleaders and the dragon mascot kept the crowd cheering for the Dragons each time we scored a point. The team scored 45 points and won the game. For the halftime show, the band made the shape of an ?H?and played Timber, 7/11, and The Fight Song.

Hom ecom in g Royalt y By: Emma Thompson Tyler Lamm is the 2017 Homecoming King along with Tica Penzing as the Homecoming Queen. They are both very excited to come back next year and crown the 2018 King and Queen. Tica?s favorite thing about last Friday was the games and trying not to trip when she walked down the football field. Tyler ?s favorite thing about last Friday was being crowned. If they hadn?t won, Tyler thought that either Luke or Anthony was going to win. Tica thought that Bailey would win. Tica and Ty both had a lot of fun.

High Sch ool Spor t s Foot ball By:Er in An der sen Ethan Andersen wears #67 on the Holyoke High School football team. He is positioned mainly at center. His biggest competitor on his team is Trent Huffman, and his team?s biggest competitor is Wray. Ethan has been playing football for seven or eight years in total. When it comes to the biggest difference between high school and junior high football, Ethan says it is precision and Intensity. His goal is to rule 385, which means he wants to beat Wray and Burlington because they are along Highway 385. His favorite coach is Mr. Sonnemaker because ?that dude is awesome.?

Deacon Dittmer is a member the Holyoke High School Golf team. His favorite coach is Dale Burg. His biggest competitor on his team is Mason King, and his biggest town competitor is Yuma. Deacon?s favorite place to play is Ballyneal, and his favorite club is his driver. His goal is to get under 100 strokes. He said he is ?kinda good.? When he plays at the Holyoke Golf Course his favorite hole is 9, because it is a challenge with the hill.

This year Haley Van Overbeke is a freshman and is playing softball, wearing number nine. She can?t decide who her favorite coach is because she doesn?t want to run if the other coach reads this article. Her favorite drill is the star drill. Haley really wants to improve on pitching this year. She also thinks that her team is ready for the season. Haley has been playing for four years. Her team?s biggest competitor is Limon. She thinks that the most improved player on the team is Regan Van Overbeke because she has only been playing for two years.

Kylie rates herself a six out of ten, and she says the hardest player on her team to compete against is Kaylee Camblin. Kylie?s favorite coach is Ms. Peterson, and Kylie thinks Jessie Mosqueda is the hardest working person on the team. Their next game is the 29th in Burlington. The hardest team the Dragons will face is Chase County, and the last game they lost was against Chase County. Kylie has played volleyball for four years.

Junior High Sport s Foot ball By Diego Jimenez Jaime Avila, an 8th grader, wears number 77 and plays strong tackle. He has played football for 4 years, and over the years he says that the toughest opponent that he?s ever had is Burlington. Other than football, Jaime plays basketball, track, and baseball. His goal in football is to pass the line of scrimmage, and in his opinion Tuff Sigler has improved the most since last year. Jaime?s favorite drill is the Oklahoma, and his favorite thing about football is that he can tackle people. He says his coaches? goal for everyone is to do their best and have fun. On Thursday, A team won 16-6 and the B team tied 6-6 against Sterling.

Volleyball By Clover Adler Emma Oakley?s favorite coach is Coach Vieselmeyer, and her jersey number is number 3. Emma thinks that the team's biggest opponent is Sterling. She thinks that the team isn?t quite ready for the rest of the season, but the team needs some more work. Emma?s favorite drill is the butterfly, and her favorite position is middle front. Her goal for this year is to consistently serve over the net. She thinks that the hardest working teammates are Kristen Vieselmeyer and Lauren Herman. Emma?s favorite person to play volleyball with on the team is Rachel Krueger.

Pro and Col l ege Sports NFL By Stephen Murray Last Sunday night, September 17, 2017, the Dallas Cowboys faced the Denver Broncos at the home of the Broncos. Denver won 17-42, dealing Dallas a hard loss. Dak Prescott threw his first pick-6 ever for a 103 yard touchdown. The pass was picked off by cornerback Aqib Talib. Elsewhere in the league, the Seattle Seahawks pulled off a close win against the San Francisco 49ers with the score of 9-12. The Atlanta Falcons beat the Green Bay Packers with a score of 34-23.

Baller z Post By Ethan Johnson Last weekend the NBA released the new ?statement jerseys.? There were a lot of cool jerseys, but some that weren?t the best. On the ESPN show The First Take, there was an interview with Kyrie Irving about his trade to the Celtics. Kyrie says he still has all love for the city of Cleveland for giving him the chance to play for them. Stephen A. asked Kyrie if he spoke to Lebron before demanding the trade, but Kyrie said he did not. ?You could see how someone could take [the trade] personally,? countered Stephan A. Kyrie replied, ?It?s not anything personal.? Later in the conversation, he said, ?There is no time to figure out how to save someone?s feelings when ultimately you have to be selfish in figuring out what you want to do.? Describing his new position with the Celtics, Kyrie said, ?I am ecstatic!? Later in the week, the Lakers signed Andrew Bogut for one season after he spent last season with the Mavericks.

M LB By Tuff Sigler Last Tuesday, a pretty even matchup between the New York Yankees and the Minnesota Twins resulted in a 5-2 win for the Yankees. This was game 6 of the set. In this game, the Yankees had 11 hits, but only 5 of them scored. All of the Yankees?scores were with the bases loaded, but they could not hit the grand slam to save their lives. They had 5 chances to hit one, but could not. The Yankees pitcher, CC Sabathia, has had a good last 6 days because he averaged a 4.6 ERA within these days.

The main characters are Dorothy, Lucas, Jack, The Wizard, and princess Ozma. This is a really interesting show, but I wouldn?t recommend it for 5th grade and under. The show is filled with action and excitement. You can find and watch this show on Hulu.

Th e Of f ice By Et h an Joh n son The show The Office, starring Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, and Jenna Fischer, is about a business called Dunder Mifflin. It's about a group of typical office workers that all have their own problems and sometimes have inappropriate behavior. In the office there are many different pranks and work relationships. The boss, Michael Scott (Carell), isn?t the smartest boss in the world. Two characters in the show that battle each other are Jim Halpert (Krasinski) and Dwight Schrute (Wilson), who are always battling it out to be the better salesperson. The show is really funny with a couple real heart warming moments in it. I would recommend it to people ages 13+. Assassin?s Cr eed: Un it y

By: Em m an u el (EV) Vasqu ez Assassin?s Creed is a series of eight games where you play as an assassin. I currently own Assassin?s Creed: Unity and it is an amazing game. The game takes place in Paris, France. The main character, Arno Victor Dorian, decides to become an assassin after his own father, also an assassin, was assassinated when Arno was only eight. You can customize your character, including giving him amazing weapons like swords and guns. You can also customize Arno?s appearance like the hood and his armor. You can free roam or you can continue the main mission. I highly recommend getting Assassin?s Creed: Unity.

Churros are like long, warm, sugary bread sticks. Some of them are filled with vanilla cream or strawberry jam. Before they are cooked, they can be shaped like ovals or swirls, but most of the time they are just straight. Churros are made in hot oil, and when they are done they come out crunchy and soft. Churros are mostly sold in small markets and in carnivals. They are mostly famous in Mexico, Spain, and France. I would give churros a 5 out of 5.

However, Mexico City had an earthquake rated ?disaster ? in the Richter Scale. The Richter Scale is the scale used to measure the magnitude of an earthquake. There is a state of emergency in place for Mexico City. And according to The Guardian, as many as 230 people are known dead; however, that number is going to rise as long as rescue teams are pulling people out of the rubble. In the capital of Mexico, buildings have fallen, there is rubble and debris everywhere, but in the time of need, neighbors are being neighbors and helping each other.

Another hurricane has struck, this time in Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean. The hurricane?s name is Hurricane Maria. Scientists expected this hurricane to be a category four hurricane with winds about 130 miles per hour. Scientists weren?t sure of the possible damage of the storm because they were told it would keep progressing. Several Caribbean islands are still in devastation from hurricane Irma, and they are now possibly going to be hit by hurricane Maria.

Late at night last Saturday, September 16, there was a protest at Georgia Tech college. Despite the unknown cause for this riot, three of the protesters were arrested and one was shot dead. The one shot, Scout Schultz, was the one that called the police. He was shot because he came at the police with a knife. After being commanded to drop the knife, he still came at them and then got shot. The other three were arrested after trying to attack the police because Scout was killed. After this, the protest was stopped.

Late in the day on Monday, Los Angeles was hit with a magnitude 3.6 earthquake. The quake hit nearly four miles northwest of Westwood, a neighborhood in west Los Angeles. There isn?t any severe damage expected, as these earthquakes are fairly common. Most people in the area could feel the quake, and many loose objects such as dishes were disturbed. The earthquake, however, was not strong enough for everyone to feel, and many people slept right through it.

She is not that nervous about her part because her lines are short. Another person in the play is Dylan Miles, who will play the part of Patsy. He is also not nervous about the part because he has also been in Oklahoma and Beauty and the Beast. Some other key roles in the play are Drew Stewart (Sir Galahad), Tica Penzing (Not Dead Jen), and Luke Krogmeier (King Arthur).
